Want to learn how 3D printing works? 3D printing is an innovative process allowing three dimensional solid objects to be generated from a single file. These objects are created using an additive process, where different pieces of material are laid down in succession until the entire object is complete.
1 To create a brand new 3D object, a virtual design is made in a CAD using a 3D modeling program. When replicating an existing piece, a 3D scanner can be used to make a digital copy of it and place the specs into the program.
2 Next, the software proceeds to slice the finished product into hundreds or thousands of horizontal layers. When this file is uploaded into the 3D printer, it creates the project layer by layer.
3 The printer dutifully reads every slice and seamlessly creates the object piece by piece. When the printing is complete, your finished product is ready and waiting for you.
